The importance of taking photos within and not within your niche.

Normally I, among others, would be the first one(s) to tell you that finding a niche and sticking with it is one of the best / first things you should do when starting off in your creative career. However, With everything that has happened this year; I’ve had to “rediscover” myself and how I run my life a number of times.
In light of everything, I decided it would be worth putting in the time to really look into what I wanted to shoot before I put all my eggs in one basket. From Landscape to Maternity photos; I experimented with each genre seeing which I got the most enjoyment from. In my search, I found that Portrait Photography had something that kept me coming back to it and I really liked working with People.

After finding my niche; I noticed that I became so interested in learning and making portraiture profitable that my creativity and skills with the camera started to dwindle. I stopped learning in certain areas of photography and it showed.
Photography is very interesting in the way that you can take something you learned in one area and use it in another completely different area. However, When you tend to stop using the information learned from all those areas… you also tend to lose it. Taking pictures within a niche you enjoy should be a huge priority but always remember to have fun, experiment, do something to have a good time with whatever you’re doing in life.
